The Ideal Role on Society

America's ideals such as getting six pack abes or being a size zero for girls has caused eating disorders, taking steriods, and etc. just to get the perfect body. It is a sad thing to think that everyone "has" to get this body or they are judged differently. But this is true to some extent not everyone judges people on their looks, but the common ociety gets there first impression and it is up to you to turn around their impression. It sucks that we label ideals because they aren't all attainable, but people will go out of their way just to obtain them.

I think you are totally right about the fact that some people will go out of their way to obtain the image of something that, in most cases someone made up. It truly is sad that people typically hate this idea that you must have the perfect body, yet everyoen just goes with the flow of things and nothing really changes.

I agree, there is so much pressure to fit in that people develope self-esteem issues. But what can be done about the problem?

It is sad that what people think of you is based on what you wear. The fake media happiness that is seen on tv is not deserving of the attention that is payed to it.

I break it down like this. Since human beings have a biological purpose to reproduce, our idea of the way we apear to the opposite sex is extremely important. Atracting the oposite sex has always been of major concern since the days of caveman. As society advances though, it sets new rules to the laws of attraction. Does he have a car? Do I like the way he dresses? as material items become more prevalent in our society, the more they play a role in what we find attractive in the kind of person we are looking for to be our mate.
